Overview
Siyabonga Promise Zungu is a dedicated Registered Dietitian based in Port Elizabeth, holding a BSc (Hons) in Dietetics and Human Nutrition from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and has demonstrated expertise in both clinical and community-based nutrition.
With over 4 years of experience in clinical and community nutrition, he is passionate about the belief that health is the foundation of true wealth, emphasising the importance of prevention over cure. His professional journey began at Livingstone Hospital, where he provided essential nutritional care and made significant contributions to community clinics, particularly in supporting breastfeeding and managing malnutrition.
Currently, as the Supervising Dietitian at Ubuntu Pathways, Siyabonga leads health programs focusing on maternal, infant, child, and elderly nutrition. He addresses various health concerns, including overweight and obesity, non-communicable diseases, eating disorders, allergies, and as well as support for sports nutrition, while also offering personalised meal planning and nutrition education throughout all life stages. His collaborative efforts with organizations such as the Kolisi Foundation, KaziBantu, and United Through Sport aim to enhance food security and improve school nutrition.
Fluent in isiZulu, English, and Xhosa, Siyabonga combines cultural sensitivity with a comprehensive understanding of social determinants of health. His commitment to empowering individuals through practical nutrition guidance, community talks, and healthcare staff training reflects his dedication to building healthier communitie - one meal at a time.
