Dr Gerhardus Coetzer

Overview
Dr Gerhardus Coetzer is a highly experienced medical doctor and sports medicine specialist, with advanced training in trauma care, aesthetic medicine, and preventative healthcare. He completed his MBChB at the University of the Free State in 2005, followed by a Master’s in Sports Medicine (UF, 2013), and a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. Over the course of his career, he has worked extensively in both public and private healthcare, serving in hospitals such as St. Augustine’s, Frere Hospital, and Intercare Gonubie, while also running his own sports medicine practice.
Dr Coetzer has served as Senior Team Physician for the Sharks Rugby Union, tournament doctor for multiple international rugby and sevens tournaments, and medical director for Ironman 70.3 South Africa. His areas of expertise include sports medicine, men’s health, trauma care, aesthetic medicine, rehabilitation, and preventative healthcare. A registered member of SASMA, he is deeply committed to enhancing athletic performance, supporting recovery, and helping patients achieve optimal health through personalized, evidence-based care.
