Dr. Vusumuzi Nhlapho

Dr. Vusumuzi Nhlapho is a highly accomplished medical executive, occupational health specialist, and accredited mediator with more than 20 years of experience in both local and international healthcare leadership. He holds an MBBCh, MSc, DOccMed, and multiple international certifications, including from the University of the Witwatersrand, University of London, and the Royal College of Physicians of London. His career spans executive leadership, occupational medicine, health risk management, corporate governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Dr. Nhlapho has served as CEO of the South African Medical Association (SAMA), where he led strategic reforms, policy engagement, and repositioned the organization for growth. His earlier roles include leadership at Discovery Health, Rio Tinto, and various medical practices across South Africa, Canada, and the UK. His expertise covers disease management, healthcare strategy, occupational health, medical affairs, and regulatory frameworks.
